HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY

To many, Memorial Day marks the start of summer, spending time with families and friends and gathering for barbecues and parades.

Memorial Day is when we come together to honor our fallen servicemen and women to express our sincerest gratitude for their ultimate sacrifice.  They willingly put their lives in harm’s way to protect and defend our liberty and freedom. For those who have lost loved ones, today I hope you will take comfort in knowing that we are eternally thankful for those men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

We must never forget that these heroes action allow us to go about our daily lives safe and free.  We can never repay the debt we owe to those that have selflessly given their lives in the name of freedom.

On May 2, 2015, more than 70 North Florida and South Georgia World War II and Korean War veterans departed on a honor flight to Washington, D.C. to visit national memorials: WWII , Korean, Vietnam, Lincoln and Iwo Jima memorials and Arlington Cemetery. This honor flight provided veterans with a day of sight-seeing, sharing stories and embracing camaraderie among men and women who recognize the sacrifice of our brave veterans that have fought to protect our freedom.

As you celebrate Memorial Day this weekend, I challenge you to take a moment to thank the heroes and she-roes who defend our great state, nation and world every day.  Pay homage to them for their sacrifices, because the world is a safer place to work, live and play because of them.  Keep alive the memories of the soldiers we have lost and those currently serving to ensure our generation preserves freedom.  We are forever grateful!!!  Have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.
